This started up yesterday here in Australia! And it just makes me like Tony more! I love how he brings history to the masses, interesting history, and in a really down to earth, sincere, real way.
This week was the first one, and it was the Dark Ages. _________________ Please your majesty! Spare my crab and sweetcorn!!! |

Yeah I love those series, (I think he has done 2 so far). Combines my interest in industrial/social history and my interest in Tony Robinson.
I quite like the way he hates doing everything, yet is fascinated all the same. |

LOL, he does genuinely hate doing it - you can tell.
I was quite touched by the last episode in the first series, or was it a one off, when he did what he thought was the worst job - working as a tanner. I do family history research a lot, and not long before I saw that I found out my great-great grandfather's family were tanners - bloody awful job that was. |

yeah, he sure hated that egg collecting job!! The others I don't think he minded all that much, and you can tell that he's genuinely interested though. Even though he knows what was involved before he did it, he's still interested in what the people say.
He also made a wattle and daub wall, he watched the charcoal makers and so on, he looked at how monks would have lived, he 'ploughed' a field lol... that was funny. He looked at what jobs the women would have had... He looked at the vikings, and how they rowed for days on end and carried their boat over hills on logs greased with rancid fish fat... But it was definitely the egg collecting that freaked him out! _________________ Please your majesty! Spare my crab and sweetcorn!!! |

| The things he hates most seem to be anything involving heights or smells. |

He's really not good with heights at all bless him! He was actually quite ill after doing the first series, but thats not surprising, I wouldnt do the things he did at all!!
Thought the first series was better than the second, and the christmas special was quite a good programme.
Did like the Georgian period worst jobs, one in particular caught my eye

I'd hate to think what that was.... LOL
Personally, I thought the most revolting was the purple maker job, can't stand shellfish as standard.
The worst one in my opinion was probably the kids in the mines that open the doors, sitting in the dark all day, in the dust. Not that I'm scared of the dark, nor am I claustrophobic, but that'd still be awful. |

ooo the ducking stool and scolds bridle was good! Especially since I noticed that when Tony was in that dress, he walked exactly the same way he did when he was in drag being "Marian". _________________ Please your majesty! Spare my crab and sweetcorn!!! |
